This is an open letter for all parish councillors and the general public to read.

14th Feb 2018

I understand that an impromptu meeting is to be held in private to discuss parish council standing orders this, probably is to shoehorn decisions through at the next open OPC meeting, without the public being aware of the arguments that have taken place. This is a disgrace.

Parish councillors have already demonstrated there animosity towards each other at public meetings and now they want to exclude the public so we are unable to judge the value of our representatives protecting our interest.

Not only is this private meeting probably illegal, (you may call it unofficial but this makes it worse, however you describe it - it is a gathering of councillors in secret discussing parish affairs), but demonstrates the total disregard councillors have for the community they are supposed to represent. This meeting is certainly ethically wrong and against good practice.

If councillors are not able to work on documents sent to them and then respond to them in an open public meeting, (thus the public have a chance to petition their views), perhaps they are not fit to represent the will of the community. Draft proposals should be published with the minutes and be placed in the public domain.

Secret meetings of councillors are unacceptable. If this meeting goes ahead I intend to do all I can to seek support from the community to voice a total lack of confidence in this parish council.

At last, Oxborough get its SAM
(Speed Awareness Message) sign.

Traffic calming though the village was originally instigated over 20 month’s ago by concerned members of the community who financed the unit with their fund raising (Oxborough Community Road Safety Campaign Group) efforts and support from a NCC grant.
The sign was activated on the 1st April and is to be situated alternately at each end on the village every two weeks from now on; hopefully this will set the pattern for motorist to drive carefully through our village.
